  Pros : small, cosy, cute shared kitchen, good reception staff, wifi
  
  Cons:
  location - Although it provides easy access to Hayes st shops and cafes and the rest of the town, as a solo traveller I didn't feel comfortable walking around, at all. It doesn't seem to be a safe part of the town and if you like to explore the city on foot, one wrong turn in the area and you'll find yourself in a bad area like Ellis st.
  
  Rooms, facilities, value for money - I didn't expect 4-5 star quality of this place, but the double room I had was so tiny that I couldn't even open my small suitcase fully on the floor. Plus, the rooms don't even have decent heating / cooling facilities. I have trouble sleeping at night because it was freezing (no extra blanket either). To add to the joy in the middle of the night I had to walk down the icy floor for the shared bathroom.
  
  Unfortunately this was a very uncomfortable holiday stay. The quality of this place was just below acceptable.

  Simple hotel with great location. The room was very clean, and new, and the shared bathroom was as clean as it can be (usually depends more on the guests who are sharing it, and we unfortunately had a pair of young women who didn't really care about leaving their hairs all over everything). The bed was squeaky but otherwise comfortable for the price range.
  The breakfast was great, the kitchen area was newly renovated as well.
  Downside was, they said that the front desk was open 24 hours and this was not the case. We had some things on the refrigerator that we weren't able to retrieve because there was nobody available at the front desk when we checked out early in the morning - even though we called the afternoon before and they said that there would be.
  Otherwise, good value for your money.

  I really recommend this hotel, extremely nice and helpful service, it's clean and the breakfast is really good.
  
  The staff is really helpful, they help you store your baggage if you arrive before the check in, and they will help you order a shuttle bus to the airport, and if your plane is late at night they will help you store your baggage from check out till the shuttle bus arrives.
  
  I can only recommend Hayes Valley Inn, and if I'm going to San Francisco again I would definitely stay here again.
